The forum rules clearly state no advertising, but does pond digger read them, what do you think?

I wouldn't classify what Pond digger posts as advertising, it is mostly examples of his own work or youtube clips of how to make something. I don't think he has ever tried to sell anything here. Some people have definitely got through the security checks and posted up advertising but they promptly get removed.

If we had a moderator and a proactive site owner then what pond digger posts would have been deleted long ago and he would have have been barred I reckon. I don't see any harm in his posts.

You clearly miss the obvious.
Most of the clips that Ponddigger links to are adverts, therefore he is advertising, My "problem" is that he has been told before not to do it, but still he persists.
He is now trying to "change his tune" by posting almost anything to do with ponds.
If he can advertise (and not pay for it) so can everyone else.

Ahhhhh but is he profiting from it personally or just showing relevant stuff for our benefit? It's a fine line. Do you mean the ads at the beginning of every video clip because these are just standard ads that the user has no control over and they are on every single video?

there is not a massive audience here to benefit from this “advertising”

.there are/have been worse offenders who are linking to clickbait sites.....i see no issue with someone showing off their craft. Its good to get ideas

This is a none issue

However you choose to look at it advertising is against the rules.
