But, just to show how sad we all were, we were a generation that actually listened to a RADIO ventriloquist, Peter Brough and Archie Andrews?

I suppose you are going to tell us you don't remember any of it.

Absolutely none. Thankfully. What were you listening on, a radio that took 20 mins to warm up and glow orange or one powered by pig fat batteries?

Valve radio powered by an accumulator which was exchanged at the village grocer's every Saturday morning. Then electricity came in 1947.

Apparently our house didn't get electricity until the 1970's! There is still a little shed for the generator in the field next to the house.

Ooh, I forgot to say I actually got out into the garden yesterday. Did a bit of tidying and took down the fruit netting - all folded up for next year. God I'd missed being in the garden! BTW Dave hasn't yet noticed the netting is missing. I'm taking bets on how long it is before he says anything. Laughing

You can all enjoy a quiet few days as from tomorrow, I'm off to London with my two sons to watch the mighty gooners play Newcastle on Saturday.

Well on the ferry after a 5-30 start and had a mighty mixed grill. Just over 30 for three breakfasts FFS. Robbers!
Good news. Birth certs finally found last night. In a folder of bank statements of a bank I haven't used in 18 years. Pure chance.
