hi baradcc, i also have escalonia growing but only with one yr and i too am living in a very windy area and need the good protection that escalonia is supposed to offer...but i put up the green shelte ...

no that was actually carrots that my kids set, coz they pull mine before they r big so this was there little section ....kept them busy till mine were big enough:)Smile......

i have heard of people putting old carpet or vinyl around the new hedge, if you cut a slip in it and put it around the stem and you can leave it there forever...
