I sowed white beetroot outside under cloche on march 2nd , there was 10/15 of them shooting in 10 days and coming on nicely . I removed the cloche about a week after they shooting and was delighted with there progress until i went out ystdy morning and .........there was only 3 left !!!!! there was no trace whatsoever of them , all the leaves, the roots everything gone ....all the stuff beside them was perfect, radish, shallots , scallions?????could it have been a mouse??????.....
what can i do to prevent this in the future ?????
any advice plz

hello avatar, my theory is through rumour so is basically a guess.my neighbour had much the same problem with beetroot an found alot of well feed crows had been dining on his goodies, his solution was a fine mesh raised enough to stop the birds landing and strips of plastic hanging to deter them from getting in the side, hope this helps a bit |
