Hello, I am new to your forum. Could anyone tell me if it is harmful or otherwise to spread ashe on the plants or soil. I was told once that it was good for the plants but I am having doubts, not that it is apparent that it is harmful. would appreciate any help or advice on this, Thanks. Pat Douglas

Be careful what ashes you use in the Garden.
I friend of mine used ashes from somkeless coal in the Garden and it kill eveything where she pit it.
Years later it is still not possible to grow anything in that part of the Garden.

I think wood ash is absolutely fine in the garden......I heard somewhere that you can spread it in the trench before you plant your seed potatoes....but I've forgotten why! !
