I need frogs

Every year im plagued with slugs so i need to get some frogs for my pond.Any idea where i can get some in Dublin

How old is your pond? Usually frogs, toads etc find their own way there, even in cities.
If it's quite an old pond, then you could ask around if any friends/neighbours have spawn in their ponds yet. Get some and put it in yours.

my girlfriend has a half barrel as a water feature in her garden (no pump, it's still water), and her father has a pond (with running water) with lots of frogspawn in it. is it feasible to transfer some? what do tadpoles need for a food supply?

They're better moved as spawn otherwise they will move away again as frogs.
On hatching they live a few days off the yolk sack, then they become vegitarian, as they grow they become insectivorous/meat eaters then fully insectiverous as froglings onwards. There is usually enough of each type of food for them in ponds naturally. Algaes, insects, mosquito larvae etc.

Just in case there isnt enough food for them in the pond and if you want a lot of frogs feed them some chopped lettuce or cabbage for a while, then after a while as they get bigger switch to some chopped liver.
