has anyone been watching this on BBC2?
saw most of episode 2 last night; an interesting watch, it's about using plants for pharmacological uses (and nothing illegal about the plants used...)

| Very interesting medieval. They say nature has a cure for every ill created by nature alright. I had to laugh at one of the ads at the top of the page for mothers day gift ideas. Get her some drugs why doncha. |

I still use quite alot of plant remedies, and have always done.

The vast majority of modern drugs is based on old herbal remedies. The trouble nowadays is, they try and improve them by removing certain properties to purify the drugs and make them work faster, the problem is, the drugs need all the constituents right down to trace to do the job properly, hence the reason modern drugs can have nasty side effects.
Valium is based on Valerian, but look what happens if you take Valium! Remember when they used (?) to test drugs on animals? They tested Digitalis (common Foxglove) on dogs. They dropped down stone dead. They decided it had no benefit to humans, apart from killing them, hence the very bad reputation it has if eaten. That was until they accidentally discovered it was a wonder drug for certain heart problems in humans. Again though, they are synthesising Digitalis 
I suffer from serious sinus infections, so painful I just want to die. Since using Echinacea, no more problems,taken daily it's great, increase the dosage if I have an infection come on and it clears within a couple of days. I've regularly treated tooth abcesses with it as well. Within 24 hrs it's practically gone. One of the best immune boosters you can find.
Even the biggest scourge on my land, Convolvulus arvensis, the field bindweed has it's uses, but I don't suffer enough constipation to use all that infests my land

Apologies for that Liparis , it was what remains of the old over-exuberant word censor.
I will finally get to the bottom of all the old inbuilt censors this weekend to prevent another occurrence.
I need a Valium myself after that. |
