| Hi, I was wondering if someone could give me some advice? I would like to have some sort of plant (preferably flowering) in a room where the temperature changes alot. It gets very cold and then very dry and hot when the heater is on. There is some light but not loads. I am having trouble keeping anything alive in there. Any advice? |

I'm about to embark on finding a plant for my mess room which has the same conditions as yours.
What about a peace lily? Or Cactus types? |

Hi,
Why not try some potted seasonal bulbs (lily of the valley ect) or plants like primulas you can plant them outside when they are starting to go over.
Maybe you could try violets/ferns in those glass containers like the victorians had. Lastly the good old aspidistria is worth a try. |

| I'd recommend Mother-in-Law's Tongue - its very hardy and tolerates a wide range of conditions. And its pretty easy to find and care for (just don't overwater). And after a while you'll be able to split them and have lots of little plants - I started off with two and now have four. |
