|
|
Hi
The various tips and comments on here have inspired me to do more for our bird friends inthe garden but I have a question regarding bird feeders. Are rodents attracted in any way to the seed / nuts etc that fall to the ground from the feeders ?
Or is there a special mix that birds like but are unattractive to the mice ?
Thanks in advance, Doctor Robert. |

If rodents are a worry then using a platform bird feeder will allow very little seed to fall to earth. Get or make yourself a good wide table and the rodents will be unable to climb it.
See an earlier thread about them here Docter Robert....... Platform bird feeders _________________ Benefited from irishgardeners.com? Then link to us or tell others.

| Sorry not been around much--terrible problems with the Fairymount signal--another problem i had with feeders was rodents climbing the trees to get to seed feeders---hang the feeders by fishing line -they can't manage to get to the seed |

Those damn faries. But seriously I feel your pain as my connection is flakey at the best of times, then I come back here to a backlog of new posts. Good Idea about the fishing line, but would it be worth giving it a quick wipe with a paint brush just to prevent entanglement of passing birds with bad eyesight. I swear we do so much for these birds they should be paying rent. |

| SB---i use green fishing line so there are no problems----you could also use a fly line and they come in some really bright colours. |
