I planted mine into 3'' pots stuck a little bit of cane into each pot and put them out in a sheltered spot in the garden, and there they'll stay till i plant them up in the garden next year. This is not advice however, its just what I do, maybe somone else knows the right thing to do

Hold on now spider, stall the ball, I did say 'this is not advice' I don't want u comin round with a base ball bat cause u'r sweet pea's were murdered by jack frost , i know that they'll do away fine in the cold greenhouse until next year,I put mine out a couple of weeks ago, well before we got frost. I know they are a pretty hardy plant, maybe someone else can advise u on whether u can put them out now , straight into frosty mornings.
The other thing I noted last year is that they need every other day attention, if u let them go at all, they go mad, this year I'm going down the cordon route, simply because I want a better quality flower, well thats the plan anyway

Spider, this is where I'm at, at the moment, they don't seem to have grown too much in the past 2 months, which i think is good thing, and the frost doesn't seem to have any effect on them.
