I recently read a lovely article about a floating timber path accessing a "wild" part of a garden and it sounded lovely. Presumably lifting the path off the ground keeps it from rotting. The only other detail I remember was that you have to cover the timber with fine wire mesh as otherwise it would get quite slippy and treacherous.
I imagine you would need weed-suppresant fabric beneath, too. |

Redgrass1 I'd go the decking timber route as it's the right material. Janalee below concurs. Charlie Dimmock's yer only man, but don't tell Tommy Walsh.

| Western red cedar is a great wood for using outdoors if you can afford it. Its often used in decking projects, but I reckon any wood treated for outdoor decking use would be acceptable. I would suggest you go with the decking type which has the grooves as this should be less slippy in wet conditions. |
