Hi Folks
I've been growing some catalpa trees from seed over the summer and all was going well until recently.
They started getting white patches then wilting off and some have died. Its a bit like a white fungus and when you rub it some comes off. Anyone have any ideas as to what it is?
Can't upload photos.
Thanks |

You need a site to host the pic such as photobucket, image shack, flickr etc. This will then provide you with the url. Tutorial here for image adding on this site.... http://www.gardenplansireland.com/forum/about32.html
Let me know if you need more help. |

No luck with the photos siochain?
Anyway, sound like a mildew attack on your catalpa seedlings.
Informative video here........ Powdery Mildew, How-to Video
Also...
Ensure you have good air circulation around the plant, by cutting back any surrounding planting if practicable.
Water the plant well, and don't let it become dried out totally between waterings.
Mulch the watered soil to conserve moisture.
If applying an artificial fertilser, you should select one specially designed for your plant and its life stage. Ensuring the plant is well fed will help it resist diseases. Avoid at all costs very high nitrogen fertilisers, as these encourage soft sappy growth that is more easily colonised by Powdery Mildew. _________________ Benefited from irishgardeners.com?
