We're all assuming Ireland will remain in the EU but the Irexit Freedom Party may gain ground if Ireland feels it's been ditched by Europe.
Strangely, Michel Barnier, the main architect of the 'No Hard Border' campaign said the other day that, as a former agricultural minister in France, the prospect of disease(s) spreading into the EU from a non-EU UK might be worrying. I wonder what he really wants? _________________ A novice gardener on newly cultivated, stoney ground. |

There you go another dead line passed. So no effect on horticulture until Feb whenever after extension. They had a collective understanding not a collaborative agreement. |

Watch for the latest 'twist' from Nicola Sturgeon who's suggesting a union of Scotland and N Ireland. That may produce a link with the Republic which, ultimately, will bankrupt all three. Wall between England and Scotland to stem immigration. No more hefty UK subsidies to Scotland. QED. _________________ A novice gardener on newly cultivated, stoney ground. |

it will only bankrupt one Scotland, were already bankrupt and will be for a long time to come as for NI that's just a civil servant state. As for Horticulture some nice gardens both private and national trust also some big orchards although some of the big growers moved south. |

Scotland contains 8.5% of the UK population, which means any subsidised aspects of their infrastructure are met by the taxpayers of the rest of the UK?
Assuming Brexit goes ahead, not only will there need to be a border to stop immigration, but the Scots will suddenly have to start funding the remaining 91.5% of things like ferries, postal services, fishery protection, embassies, driver/vehicle licensing, passports - oh, and they'll lose the large naval yards. _________________ A novice gardener on newly cultivated, stoney ground. |
