Just thought it might be an idea to start saying goodbye.
As most know / figured out verge (moderator) has long gone, and James (Owner) is busy with whatever, and pays no attention to this site what so ever, (yep tried, pm's emails even tried smoke signals, all to no avail) but the fact is this domain name is due to expire in February 2019, yes its 3 months away, and maybe he will renew the site (and do some moderating) but incase he doesn't, "its good night from him and its......" _________________ Does your post really add something, or is it to bump your post count? |

Yes, it really is a shame, one in particular I was on, the owner just stopped it, posted a notice "back soon" and never did come back soon.
Bit like this forum, a certain individual sees nothing wrong with breaking the rules and posting links to stuff that no one really cares about, then they wonder why the forum closes..........like this one is going to soon. _________________ Does your post really add something, or is it to bump your post count? |

@ Vulcan. How do you find out when a domain expires and how do you know that Pond digger was previously warned about 'advertising'?
@ Greengage. Explain please. _________________ “It’s my field. It’s my child. I nursed it. I nourished it. I saw to its every want. I dug the rocks out of it with my bare hands and I made a living thing of it!”

Just check out the post What did you do today, There were so many threads lost in that post that would have entertained gardeners for years, I told you but none would listen then when you tried to fix it the horse had bolted.
But not to worry its not the only forum declining and this one was very good.
I think people will revert to these in time as the slagging and abuse that goes on Facebook will see it decline as a forum to have discussion and debate.
The last time this domain came up for sale I could have bought it but I told james his time was up and he sorted it, problem was the card he had registered expired and he forgot to update it otherwise it would have removed the money from his account. Remember K2 when the computer system was to crash, remember Acid rain, Hole in the ozone, etc etc......... oh don't forget climate change the only change you will notice is the amount of tax you will get screwed for. Water tax, waste disposal tax, carbon tax, house tax, insurance tax, car tax, bring back the window tax as you have too much access to light. |

I have an Irish Gardening page on Farcebook and there is Zero slagging or abuse on it. It sticks to Irish gardening and that's it.
The problem with Facebook is that there is no search function to bring up previous advice given. So it's a bit ephemeral but not as bad as Twitter, which I can't stand.
There are a few gardening forums still thriving. Gardeners' Corner in the UK and also Growing on the Edge, which is brilliant, although very specialist. Most other ones are dwindling away in the dust. _________________ .

What did you do today just became the place to go to for general chit chat and as you say numerous discussions went on within it. I tried to dilute it by introducing the monthly topics but not many took it up. Pity now with February coming that the second years worth of comments most likely won't get to be added to the first years as planned, trying to keep things in some sort of order. You may also remember that our glorious leader promised a wholesale revamp of the site about 2 years back and nothing was done. _________________ “It’s my field. It’s my child. I nursed it.
