I have a long eared owl for a neighbour nesting not too far away, less than 200 yards. I hear the screech of the young one in the nest every night. Looked for the nest one day last week but no luck. No sighting of the adults yet though. _________________ “It’s my field. It’s my child. I nursed it. I nourished it. I saw to its every want. Keep looking! We had a Flycatcher nest in our Swallow box this Summer. A bit hairy at times as they drop to the floor on leaving the nest and swoop upwards. Almost a suicide mission with the cats about.
But I placed pots and netting all around as an obstacle course and all the birds fledged successfully. _________________ Be humble, for you are made of earth

Flycatcher? I had to look that up and then find that there are 400+ species in the family. Never heard of them. Maybe they don't migrate to the sunny south east and prefer the nordie climate! _________________ “It’s my field. It’s my child. I nursed it. I nourished it. I saw to its every want. Flycatchers come FROM the 'sunny South' I think the good weather bought them this far North. We had a Pied Flycatcher for a few months YEARS ago.
Welcome back GG. Haven't heard from you for ages. Or is that just me not being a regular visitor myself? _________________ Be humble, for you are made of earth
