Four days late, my bad! _________________ “It’s my field. It’s my child. I nursed it. I nourished it. I saw to its every want. I dug the rocks out of it with my bare hands and I made a living thing of it!”

I might, just might, venture into the greenhouse today. Haven't been in there since October I'd say. About time things got kick started. _________________ “It’s my field. It’s my child. I nursed it. Well Spring has certainly arrived this weekend! We were only away two days and when we got back the willow and apple trees had leaves on them. Amazing what a bit of sun can do! _________________ Be humble, for you are made of earth

Well I didn't make it to the greenhouse but I did dig up a big basket of Red Duke of York spuds (my favourites), should do us for a fortnight or so. I was just thinking when I was out there that I haven't been to a garden centre since last summer. They must be suffering as I have heard the farmers are as much as seven weeks behind this year already. I seen one of the neighbours out ploughing today and another one spreading dung. _________________ “It’s my field. It’s my child. I nursed it. I nourished it. I saw to its every want. It seems to be all systems go up in Derry. But as you say, everything is late. Just as we got home I heard the cuckoo for the first time. He's late too! I shall have to look it up, but I think he arrived around the 9th or 10th last year. Still no sign of the swallows though. _________________ Be humble, for you are made of earth

I haven't seen nor heard either bird yet. But we should see the swallows before you do cos it is better down south. _________________ “It’s my field. It’s my child. I nursed it. I nourished it. I saw to its every want. I dug the rocks out of it with my bare hands and I made a living thing of it!”

More like it's not as far for them to fly!
What were you planning to do in the greenhouse? _________________ Be humble, for you are made of earth

That would be the advantage alright.
Clean out last years detritus and start all over again. Going to have to rely on garden centre plants this year rather than growing from seed for a lot of stuff. Feels like cheating as I get more satisfaction growing from seed. I just don't have the time lately. _________________ “It’s my field. It’s my child. I nursed it. I nourished it.
