I have been following Paul Salopeck's walk across the world. This piece, just published, describes his reaction to the flora of Kyrgistan. Lovely writing and some smashing photos.

Wow, that's a brave thing to do these days, the state of the world being what it is! Fancy walking for miles and miles through flowers. Closest I ever got to that was the Summer meadows of alpine Austria.

It's a mighty project, walking from Ethiopia to Terra del Fuego at the tip of Chile. 10 years, I think they are planning on. Such a contrast to the way we usually travel the world these days.

10 years! Almost as slow as train travel in England. Laughing Still a brave thing to do. I have put that on favourites and will tune in to his progress.

Paul Salopeck's expedition is in association with National Geographic. Otherwise it would be beyond anyone's reach, I expect. The logistics alone are mind-boggling!
I will check out the journey you mention, Greengage.
My Canadian nephew and his soon-to-be wife walked the Pacific Trail last year from the Canadian to the Mexican border. Not a bad pre-marriage trial!
