In an earlier post I said I would make a video of the next heap, vids can not be attached here and you need good quality to put them on you tube .
A few photos will have to do the job.
I started a heap yesterday, the recipe is 1 part fresh horse manure, 1 part sea weed(chopped up) 4 parts spent reeds . That's one barrow manure, one barrow seaweed to four barrows reeds.
I lay that out in layers on a sheet of polythene, I mix the six barrows together and then pile it on the heap, then six more and six more until done .
This heap is only half done as I did not have enough seaweed.
Its now 4 X 4 ft and when finished it will be four feet high, that's about 42 wheel barrow loads . For now I have to keep it dry as I don't want it to start until I get up to the four feet.
The card board box's are only there to form a temp wall, I will remove them in a few days, as the heap needs air.
I expect this to be ready in six weeks, that's four weeks composting and two weeks maturing.

Image shows two heaps, the one on the left is about two weeks old notice all the materials are now black (half cooked). The near one is less then a week old and as you can see its still brown and a close up will show bits of seaweed not digested .
At two weeks, the sea weed is no longer visible.

"Blessed are the compost makers for they shall inherit the Earth", not the meek then!?
I would have thought that the compost makers make the earth.

Well, obviously, this is not meant to be taken literally. It refers to any manufacturer of dairy products , . RRTFL...

Ahhh, I was wondering .... Like Tagwex I hadn't a clue what you were on about.
Bit like me when someone sneezes and I shout 'Arsenal !' Shades of Morecambe and Wise. Fork 'andles anyone?
