Hi
I saw this deal on a site in England
That ships seeds and young plants.
I was wondering would all the
Vegetables there be suitable to grow outdoors
In Ireland?
http://www.dtbrownseeds.co.uk/Vegetable-Plants-1/Ultimate-Vegetable-Plant-Collection.html#.Vx_ZSa9emrU
The garden patch that I will be rotivateing
Faces south and gets morning,Afternoon and evening sun
I'm in Tipperary if that makes a difference
Thanks
Fionn.

Should be OK, although you'll need a hot summer to get maize to ripen. Squash'd be good to grow. Bought some hone-grown Squash last year from someone. The difference in taste to the ones from the supermarket was a revelation!

Hi again, Fionn. Apropos my other reply to your newbie post, I see you're in Tipp and people like Tippben could be useful to you.
The price seems to be rather steep to me and, if your area is anything like this one, local market stalls will usually have loads of plants that you can look at and take away with you. One word of warning about getting stuff like plants from the UK, as opposed to seeds, is that one can never guarantee speed of delivery. It's rumoured that parcels are stacked up until a container is full, upon which it is sent across. This means that, if your parcel is the first one into the container after the last one's just been sent, you may wait a couple of weeks before it arrives and the delay could affect delicate plants in their plastic containers which tend to 'sweat' if it's warm.

Spend your money here. Have you checked out your local garden centre to see what they can offer?

Hi tagwex
The closest private garden center to me
Is one on the ballysimon road Limerick
They only have cabbage, peas, lettuce and carrots
Then there is home base which is all over Ireland as you know
But they don't have anything like squashes
Different types of beans and different tomatoes etc
They just have the normal stuff like carrots, Savoy cabbage
And a few other types, leeks normal cherry and big red tomatoes Etc.

I must be spoiled for choice in comparison so. There are six garden centres within a five mile radius of my rural location. You should consider going on a day trip so as you can actually see what you are buying. The man at my closest GC is a mine of information and knowledge, and if there is ever a problem then an exchange/replacement plant is never an issue. He also regularly gives me a few freebies. You wont get any of that on line.
You must be very rural. Find your closest GC and start building up a rapport with them, you wont be sorry in the long run if you are going to take this veg growing seriously. You also might be surprised at what you can get in Lidl/Aldi. Buy seeds, it is not too late yet for most veg.

Hi Fionn! I'm near Nenagh. You can get various plants in Woodies, and in McLoughlin's DIY in town. There is a very good garden centre in Shinrone, and on the May bank holiday weekend there should be a market in Terryglass, where there is usually an lady who sells excellent homegrown plants. I'd grow carrots and parsnips from seed though, as they don't transplant well.

Hi
I was just thinking about where I could get seeds
And then I remembered my local hardware store
They have a big rack of flower and veg seeds
If there's nothing I want I will have to try online
Thanks
Fionn.
