Just moved to Maynooth, have a small (ish) garden. Currently designing the decking and making raised beds. Saw a great deal on a mitring saw in Aldi here in Maynooth so I reckon I'll splurge on that and get cracking...if it stops raining for 5 bloody minutes. Hoping to do a "making of" post sometime soon. It'd be great to hear from others in the area. Interested in getting an allotment too if anyone has any info on that sort of thing. _________________ www.paddymacfisto.blogspot.com |

Welcome paddy mac fisto. Would love to see a "making of" post on the decking and raised beds. This site is lacking a bit in a decking how-to. Lots of other brilliant stuff though.
Love your avatar. _________________ ______________________________

Hahah I wouldn't have the horticultural know-how to even THINK about setting up a gardening website. I'm fairly handy with a computer and camera though so I'll try and get some nice pics/videos to embed in some of the posts. The avatar is a sketch one of the other animators in here did of me YEARS ago when i had quite a few piercings, all gone now though. Looking forward to getting my hands dirty in the next few weeks, cheers for the welcome guys. _________________ www.paddymacfisto.blogspot.com |

Hi Paddy mac fisto
I was down in Dunfanaghey Donegal last week at someones house and they had a decking area complete with a hot tub. How about that for a design feature? The garden was looking out on muckish and errigal. If I was the type of person who would take my steel toe cap boots off on the beach, I might have been tempted to have a dip....
Cheers

| Ahhh sounds nice, probably a bit out of my price range though, with 3 kiddies running about the place. It'd be nice to have that view too. I am thinking of incorporating a bench made from the same pressure treated wood which will double up as a (water-proof of course) storage box and some marker lights on the edges. That's about as far as my budget will go. I think I'll make a start on the "making of" post if I can find some of my original designs...my computer seems to be completely full with half finished sketches and harebrained projects. |

Seen these on a few decks, kinda like LEDs in assorted colours. Nice, and handy to ensure you dont fall off the edge after a few scoops. |

| Yeah they do look nice. Prices seem to be wither ridiculously cheap or way too expensive. there doesn't seem to be a "middle of the road" set that you can buy. ideally I'd like a set that were solar powered, but I'm finicky. I want a set that run off one big solar cell rather than the small ones that some kinds of these lights have built in. It might be cheaper for me to just go buy a small solar panel and run a normal LED set (that aren't marketed as "solar powered") off that. This is getting to be a fairly ambitious thread about my new garden, I better get off my a55 and get that "making of" thread started. |
