Im trying something new this year and decided to grow popcorn but the packet came with no instructions so i am wondering if its the same idea as growing sweetcorn. i did that last year but it wasnt a complete success, sadly. all it said was pop the kernel in the microwave and you got popcorn,at the moment they are tall but thats all..... _________________ I grow veg but I dont eat them!!! or fruit.... |

Sweetcorn will not give you popcorn and popcorn will not give you sweetcorn, that I know. Two different corn plants altogether. but you grow them both in a similar way to sweet corn.
I think microwave popcorn is pretreated so it is not good for growing at home, instead use the regular cook in the saucepan popcorn. |

my packet says Sweetcorn-strawberry popcorn and is by the company Thompson and Morgan. also says a novelty sweetcorn and they get cobs. so i am thinking it is sweetcorn!!! _________________ I grow veg but I dont eat them!!! or fruit.... |

I believe this is that one you have Loncey http://www.tmseeds.com/product/867.html .
It looks like it produces cobs of a sort, but not as elongated as the sweetcorn we are used to.
The claims are that it will produce corn suitable for popping and eating after.
Some growing and harvesting instructions are to be found in the link. |
