I would say even then you run into wilting problems due to the tree taking the lions share of water, shamus11.
Lots of watering I'm sure.
Even though we curse the weather here in Ireland, I have to say we are gifted growth-wise. _________________ Benefited from irishgardeners.com? Then link to us or tell others.

About 17 degrees c here in the west as well.
No cooling breeze though.
Very humid and heavy with the occasional dizzle shower. _________________ Benefited from irishgardeners.com? Then link to us or tell others.

lots of rain today and its more than welcome , all the trees and shrubs are showing serious signs of stress , its been the hottest summer since 1976 which I remember well , then we had no rain for 5 weeks . August is predicted to be a hottie as well .,

| Still hideously hot and humid here and no break in sight. Not much rain, either, even with thunderstorms in the forecast daily. Sometimes they come, sometimes they don't. Recently, it's mostly don't. |

We do during the summer months and into early fall. This summer it has been spotty, but no area has consistently gotten the rain needed.
Usually, the further South you go, the more intense the heat and humidity. For the last few years, however, and this year especially, it's been the case all over, even way up in the northern states where it used to not get all that bad. Like Ireland, many people there don't have air conditioning, even in public buildings, so they're really miserable. |
