goldcrest losing colour

I planted two goldcrest conifers in containers and now they seem to be losing colour in places?At first I thought it was because I planted one in limey compost but i replanted it in ericaceous compost. But now both, even the one in right compost from day one show signs of colour loss

Goldcrest often loose colour if not planted in good sunlight, turning limey green rather than yellow.
Of course drying out in a container can cause them to turn that other colour ........brown.

Just to let you know that conifers take much longer to show signs of than say for instance deciduous plants.
The browning that you see today could be from a drought period 2 to 3 weeks ago.
Whereas as with other plants you will notice wilting of leaves within an hour to a day.
Any possibility it dried out in its place of purchase.
One other thing to note is that goldcrest and most conifers can suffer from wind dessication............ Link Wind burn, Wind Damage, Leaf Desiccation and Your Plants.

Can anyone say for definite if the goldgrest should be in ericaceous compost or not. Read yes on web but local garden centre says no

Ok here is a pic. The other one is similarly affected. I know it is only a small bit just concerned if it will all go brown and die

Hi, I bought a goldcrerst in tescos for 15 cents I think.
When I got it, it was green and prickly to the touch.
Now, it's like this

Conifers that are allowed to dry out to the extreme that they die do not go brown overnight like say a deciduous shrub or annual bedding plant do.
A lot of supermarket bought conifers are slow ticking timebombs, in the sense that you may be purchasing something that was mistreated two or so weeks before you bought it.
For that reason I would avoid buying conifers in the likes of tesco.
