Hi,
I decided to bite the bullet and re-lay my lawn. I have read the stickies already, just want to be sure I have got it right.
I have already applied roundup to the lot, just going to give it about 3 weeks to die off.
Whats the best way to go after that.
I have read up loads of how-to's etc and here is what I propose:
1. When grass is dead mow it at lowest setting, collect all the cuttings.
2. Rotavate the lot, rake out all the large stones/debris etc, and rake it nice and flat.
3. Roll lightly with half-filled water roller.
4. Leave a couple of weeks for new weeds to appear, then apply roundup again.
5. Lightly dig with a fork, then rake again.
6. Sow the seed, rake in gently and roll with half-filled roller.
Is there anything I am missing here, or indeed any steps not necessary or in wrong order etc? Maybe add starter fertiliser at some stage? Compost etc?
All advice much welcome. I am aiming to sow in late september.
Thanks guys |

Depending on the size, If it is a large area you could stitch it in using a seeder or if smaller lightly roll in seed so it is in contact with soil. We will probably get dry spell in september so dont let it dry out when germinating. i also heard if you sppray it with whiskey it will come up half cut. |

Or spray with creme de menthe for a nice green hue. _________________ “It’s my field. It’s my child. I nursed it. I nourished it. I saw to its every want. I dug the rocks out of it with my bare hands and I made a living thing of it!”

Fertiliser won't go astray tommy. Looks like you have all the bases covered. _________________ “It’s my field. It’s my child. I nursed it. I nourished it. I saw to its every want. I dug the rocks out of it with my bare hands and I made a living thing of it!”
