Whilst doing some research into allotments in Dublin I came across this wonderful site. I am one of the new breed of balcony gardeners that has sprung up in recent years Smile
It really is great to have a site that is Irish Mr. Green

Glad you like it Sundew. Would love to hear any info you have to share about allotments in Dublin, availability/waiting lists, who to contact etc.

Verge:I have just gone on the waiting list for an allotment. I'm very frustrated with apartment living as I can't grow that much and I grew up in the country with my vegetable garden!
Apparently there were lots of allotments once in Dublin but most were abandoned and the land built on. There may be some community allotments and private allotments but I would think they are are very scarce. I did a bit or research and contacted South Dublin Co Council who apparently have a good few allotments on their books. They were extremely helpful and said that there are some new ones coming on stream in Bohernabreena. If you apply for here this may be your best chance of getting one quickly as the land is available. the other ones are in Tymon Park and Palmerstown which I think you have little chance of getting one.

This is now getting very popular again and the indication is that there is demand out there. I will post again and let you know how my application is going Smile

Sugar_Ape: Thanks for that hope fully I will get it rather then sooner. I can't cope without digging in dirt Laughing

It really is a great site and I only came across it accidentally after checking out lots of U.k forums!
