Glancing out of the window this morning, I was delighted to see a couple of bullfinches dancing around on some geranium Pheum - presumably after aphids. I don't know if they are migrants or whether they stay in the fields near the woods, all winter, but every year they appear in the garden around this time and hunt their way through the borders. Great pest control!
It's a pity they were too far away for a photo - they are such beautiful birds. |
