If you haven't visited the Glebe Gallery yet, it's well worth the trip. It is in the mountains, about 12km from Letterkenny. Apart from a unique Georgian house and a wonderful art collection (inc. Picasso and Oscar Kokoshka) there are lovely lakeside gardens set in a breathtakingly beautiful valley. It's in the valley next to Glenveagh National Park which is also a must-see, of course.

Says who? Bet you cannot grow strawberries way up there close to the Arctic circle on your moss and lichen strewn rocky landscape with the incessant howling wind.

I was there for a week at Easter, It rained, it poured there was hailstones, mad weather called to the Glebe Closed as they were preparing for an exhibition, Maybe someone should tell them that the season begins Easter weekend they had all winter to prepare. Glenveigh Park was excellent and the coffee shop has excellent staff very friendly, Stayed in Crolly had a great week except for the weather, climber Muckish, and Errigal Saw Nada........ Mist................
Cycled up through Glenveigh across mountain, tough cycle saw red deer, Got soaked.,Think we will have to go back, Visited a beech that was voted best in world (How they figured that out I dont Know) but was very nice , Big sand storm on beech and Mad hailstones, big waves had to seek shelter in toilets with council man cleaning rubbish , Had a great laugh with him about weather.

So all in all not an enjoyable experience. Donegal to be avoided!

Two points... was the weather wonderful?
Softies? So what are you doing up there in that barren lunar landscape?

My wife was on a work trip today which entailed accompanying a Polish colleague through much of South and west Donegal. This man has lived for quite some time in the scenic environs of Sligo. However, having gone from Letterkenny through the mountains to Fintown and on to Killybegs, returning via Kilcar/Glencolumbcille and Glenties, he was absolutely amazed at the splendour, the variety and the sheer overwhelming beauty of the land and seascapes. And that is only one corner of this amazing county.
Put Donegal on your Bucket List!

And without Mammy?

They might get blue flu if they know you're on the way.
