My swallows are back. Just been watching them ducking and diving. They are early this year. Haven't heard the cuckoo yet though. |

Yes, Margo. Ours flew in yesterday - straight into the garage for a very noisy Mothers' Meeting. _________________ A novice gardener on newly cultivated, stoney ground. |

No sign of either yet but I was told only yesterday that there is a woodpecker in the local wood just a half mile away. _________________ “It’s my field. It’s my child. I nursed it. I nourished it. Just spotted that our swallows are back, sitting on the telephone line, kinda late aren't they? _________________ “It’s my field. It’s my child. I nursed it. I nourished it. I saw to its every want. I dug the rocks out of it with my bare hands and I made a living thing of it!”

I saw my first swallow on 18th April, at the bird sanctuary on Inch Lough beside Lough Swilly, when I was there with a Birdwatch Ireland outing.
It is better, up here! |

What you really mean is that they shite all over your house walls a month earlier than here. So no, not better. _________________ “It’s my field. It’s my child. I nursed it. I nourished it. I saw to its every want. I dug the rocks out of it with my bare hands and I made a living thing of it!”

VISITORS
Our visitors arrived last May,
Direct flight into Cork.
We’d got their room all ready.
It was good to hear them talk.
They looked around the place again,
Remembering last year,
Then had a feed of insects.
Our swallow friends were here. _________________ A novice gardener on newly cultivated, stoney ground. |

Nah more of a side swipe at GG pontificating that his beloved adopted county is better than anywhere else. Anyway, they do shite all over the walls and usually right up at the inaccessible roof apexes where it is a bit of a job to remove it. _________________ “It’s my field. It’s my child. I nursed it. I'd rather swallows went elsewhere than kaleidoscoping over my pond. They don't appreciate the beauty of Dragonflies, Damsel Flies & Whirlygig beetles. They only appreciate them for their food value. Mind you, they're not quite as bad as Blackbirds. Blackbirds are the spawn of the Devil. _________________ .

Horrible alien invasive species of mammal, should be eradicated forthwith: THE CATS.
NB swallows need to eat their own body weight, daily, of various insect including mosquitoes and midges. That a lotta bugs that won't be eating you! |
