Living here in west of ireland ,there is no shortage of turf dust . Its left over in sheds after turf is burned. My query is ?
Is it the same as peat compost one buys in shops and can you use it to grow ,say bedding plants ,seedlings, tubs for patio and so on
thank you |

It's the same allright, but you may have some weed contamination but saying that I reckon some bags of peat I got last year were contaminated with willow seeds, they sprouted up from every container I put the peat in. The dried out peat may not have the same water holding properties it once had though, If using it would probably be better to mix with soil. _________________ Xeyedsheep |

There will be soon if the greens stop us cutting turf. But we will still be able to haul oil thousands of miles for our heating. Thats ok because the government can tax it.
But enough of my rant, that is for another thread.

Not exactly the same, but is a great make-weight for filling your tubs etc. Much better than soil which can go hard when watered in tubs. _________________ ______________________________
