|
|
Hi all
I can get a 10 litre bucket of used coffee grounds from my work canteen every month or so and I want to use it without composting it seperately . Is there any reason not to apply it as a mulch around my roses? Obviously I won't go above the root collar on the roses.

This should give you some useful info. Scientifically sound, too, I presume, coming from a reputable university. I have tried using them as a slug deterrent but given our rainfall I think they are of limited value for that, here. But then, I don't suppose slugs eat your roses!

Aha!
Funny, I did assume for some reason that coffee would be acidic- good to know that the grounds are neutral. Slugs weren't a problem for the roses last year- this guy (or gal) was though! Ate nothing from the garden from spring to autumn but grass and roses. If it weren't so cute I would have tapped gently on the window and waved my arms in a non-threatening manner.
A picket fence is planned for this year though!

I am with a femme fatale myself. If you had Glenn Close over for a holiday you wouldn't be worrying what was for dinner and how well it was prepared.

As all the voyeurs who read this and don't understand you, as I do, will get terribly confused.
