i'm referring to the ones which the plants come in from the garden centre; just wondering what other people do with them?
straight in the bin - or can they be recycled? or have you been able to locate another taker for them?
we have about 80 or 90 in various sizes from about .25l to 5l, and i'm loathe to chuck them if there's a better use for them. |

Our recycling centre takes them so I suspect it is the same in all recycling centres. |

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but plant pots generally can't go in the recycling bin- they are typically polystyrene (number five in the little recycling triangle symbol) and this is one of the least recyclable plastics. There is no physical reason why it is more difficult to recycle, it is just that the industry isn't set up to process this type of plastic.
I have seen the plastic biopots in garden centres (made from a more recyclable plastic), but to be honest I think they are very expensive.
Reuse is better than recycling so the best option is definitely to give them back (or is there a community group such as a mens shed) that would be interested in them? |
