Hello everyone
Do you know if there are law regulations for selling dried herbs like lavender, camomile or catnip that I grow in my garden. If they are where can I find them?
Thank you
Have a great day

If they are not for human consumption ( such as the lavender, for instance ) I can't see why there should be any regulations. As for camomile....where do you plan to sell it ? If it's in a farmer's market, ask the organisers what the general guidelines for foodstuffs are.
I imagine there may be controls if you are actually purporting to be a herbalist but that's a different thing altogether. |

Sorry to contradict but lavender is being sold for consumption. Lavender scones and cakes are quite popular. |

Good point, Margo...I was imagining those bundles of lavender you can buy for decorative/scent purposes. I've never used lavender in cooking ! |

When we lived in UK we used to go to a lovely lavender farm in Norfolk. They had the usual gift shop heavily overpriced as usual. However their cafe wasn't and there was a lot of stuff in there that contained lavender, the scones especially. |

There are lots of delicious sounding recipes for lavender ice cream on the net. I think I'll have a go when my lavender flowers. I made a wonderful gooseberry and elderflower icecream a few weeks ago, based on a Hugh F-W recipe. |
