Hi guys,
I bought an Autumn Cherry (Autumnalis Rosea). It's 7 feet tall. I would like to plant it behind the wall (in the corner) of my front garden so that in time it will hang out over the wall a bit. My front wall is 4.5 feet in height. I'd really like some advice on how far I should plant it from the front wall.
p.s. touch wood I plan on still living here in 20 years
many thanks. |

It will achieve a height of about 20' over the next ten years, and an ultimate height of about 30'. The spread will be similar. Cherries don't really respond well to pruning. I wouldn't plant it closer than 10-15' from your boundary if over growth is likely to annoy those on the other side of the wall. |
