Hi everyone, I have a bit of a quandary, hopefully you can help.
I am thinking of getting a new driveway and I was wondering if you could recommend some plants or just general colors of plants which would work well as a border to match it?
I plan to get something similar in color to a 'stonelea' style driveway (see link) in 'burnt oak.'
I was thinking perhaps blue plants such as agapanthus? Does this sound like it would match? |

It won't match but it will contrast like you said in you title.
Burnt oak would contrast nicely with some shades of blue.
Bear in mind that Agapanthus will not be in blue flower until mid/late summer, and only then for a while.
Other plants that will give you the "blues" for much longer are.....
Festuca glauca 'Elijah Blue'
Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Ellwood's Pillar'
Picea pungens 'Hoopsii'
Rosmarinus officinalis 'Tuscan Blue'
Ceanothus griseus var. horizontalis
Lavandula angustifolia |

Thanks for the list GPI, just what I needed, I will investigate those suggestions.
I did indeed mean contrast rather than 'match'
The Tuscan Blue sounds like a good plan, a contrasting colour and a useful ingredient! |
