Is it possible that it has been hit by some household cleaning product? Those marks look like splashes to me.

Hi,
Not that I can think of, I havent used anything near it. The stripes are getting bigger and more widespread as the days go on. I did put a small bit of fertiliser down a few months back. I might give it a good flush with water outside.

Is it a ficus benjamina? They don't like strong direct light - might it be scorched? If it is a ficus it will do no harm to prune off the stripey bits and it will re-grow.

Its a Ficus Exotica. I gave the soil a good flush through with water there, trimmed off the effected leaves and moved it to a shaded spot. It does get a bit of sun at sunrise but only for an hour or so. I thought at first that it might be sun damage. I'll keep ye posted!
