It is with some regret that I am informing you of the death of Michael Brenock last December 23rd. Maybe you already knew but I only found out today. He was a great source of wisdom on this site particularly on the pests, diseases and mineral deficiencies of plants built up from decades of experience. May he rest in peace, belatedly.

Shocked and saddened to read of his passing. He was a great addition to this forum and I always valued his sage advice.
His book "The Irish Gardener's Handbook" is one of the best books out there for GIYers. There's a lot to be said for adjusting behaviour for the Irish climate and its microclimates, and Michael had nailed this. Also, his brief synopsis at the start of every veg/fruit chapter made it a great quick reference, something which most other books lack.
I have seen "Rustic Wisdom" in the library and I got it out once, but never got around to reading it. Time to make amends.
Michael Brenock, RIP.

I'm really sorry to hear of Michael's death. I only got to know of him when I joined this forum, more's the pity, and I always appreciated whatever he had to say. I'm glad I bought his book. He will be sorely missed.

I wonder does Michael's family even know of his involvement with this forum and how much he will be missed by us all ? Is there any way we could let them know ? This virtual world is certainly a strange one....someone goes silent on a forum and we have no way of knowing what may have happened to them.
