HI Guys,
I have a weed which is growing vigourously all over my lawn and gravel drive way. The plants are quite small at the moment but the roots seem to be quite extensive. I know these grow quite tall but what are they and how do I get rid of them without killing my lawn?
thanks
Jonny

That's common willowherb. It's very prolific, as it produces millions of tiny wind blown seeds. Thankfully it doesn't regrow from bits of root left in the ground. It is fairly resistant to glyphosate. I'm not sure whether lawn specific selective herbicides would work, as I've never grown a lawn. Hand weeding, boiling water, a flame gun (16.99 in aldi this week) will all kill it. If you are mowing your lawn every week it should never get big enough to flower.

Thanks Tippben, Great to know what it is. I was finding that although Glyphosate does kill it, it usually needs a decent dosage to make them shrivel up.
thanks again
