I have a snowy mespilus and wonder why it is only budding now. It says should have flowers in April but April is next week.. In one garden centre the label said flowers/march/april /may. i understood it was in April.
It looks fine and buds are big and about to break. i do not want to miss the flowering. Any advice?

Don't worry! You don't say where you live, but I presume you are in Ireland.
The website you quote is British and the RHS (great organisation as it is) will give flowering times for England. Things are often a good bit later, here - this applies to the info on seed packets, too. My own Amelanchier is only starting to bud now. My garden is in Donegal, so it could be a full month later than those in the south, or the UK. Also, I'm on a north facing slope, which also delays things.
If it is any way healthy, your Snowy Mespilus will snow soon, and the berries in June will feed the blackbirds, too. We can eat the berries - they taste good.

Yes it is healthy and is starting to bud. The buds are big and about to burst but will be later than UK as you say. i am in southern part of Ireland.

Now that you mention bull finches: I sometimes see them in the garden, but not often. I was delighted, last August, to see a pair very busy in the border at the bottom of my garden. They were very active for about a week in the groundcover - mostly Geranium Pheum. I think they were after aphids and it was great fun watching them. Their colour is so startling.

Let's see a photo when it's blooming well. It's a lovely shrub.
