has anyone tried to grow mushrooms from dowel kits in hardwood?

if so, are there any irish suppliers? if not, does anyone have a supplier they can recommend?

they're wooden dowels infused with mushroom spores; you hammer them into freshly felled hardwood, and they grow and fruit.

one link i found, which also includes a kit for growing edible mushrooms from old paperbacks:

That's where I got mine from... now I can't find any logs!

I had got some from a local guy but when I looked closely, they already had mushrooms growing on them, so didn't want to risk confusing them!
