My lawn (which I sowed in April) has thrived and been lovely until the last few weeks. It is turning yellow and has orange/yellow patches on the blades. It leaves a dusty orange powder on my shoes.
All of this corresponds with Doctor Google's diagnosis of rust, and it looks exactly like this...

most sources say that it's not life threatening, and proper lawn care will sort it out. Some say that feeding it will make the weak new growth more susceptible to rust and others say to feed it.
I don't want to feed it for 5 reasons.
1) I am lazy
2) I am poor
3) I am proud of my once lush and untreated lawn which feeds itself through uncollected grass clippings
4) I am a big hippy and I don't like chemicals (except ones with quaint sounding names such as 'apple cider vinegar' and 'tea tree oil')
5) I think the first frost will kill off this disease and the lawn will come out tougher and wiser next year.
Do you think I need to do anything? |

Water thoroughly,
Fed with low nitrogen
and do not cut too tight,
Since you have numerous personal problems being lazy which is the worse leave it alone and nature will solve your problem next season. |
