Paulownia tomentosa is reeeallly fast growing alright, in fact if an established tree is cut down back hard to within 12 inches of the base in spring, it will go on to produce a 6-10 ft regrowth within the year. But rapid growth does have its downsides as it results in brittle wood which often breaks in the wind. Easy come easy go I suppose. Paulownia is not a fan of very damp soil though.
Most garden centres in Galway should be able to order this tree in for you, as I doubt it is on which sells well over here. It will be container grown as I believe they are not available bareroot usually.
acer x freemanii is not that commonly available either but the two trees that were crossed to produce it are quite available, A. rubrum x A. saccharinum. Both also display great autumn colour. Also be aware that they like moisture-retentive but well-drained soil.
Just how wet is your soil spider, any pics or examples? _________________ ______________________________
