What is the botanical name for this brassica?

My Potatoes

I'm looking for the botanical name for this brassica.
I got it five years ago from the Seed Savers and they just called it "a cut-and-come-again cabbage". In her book "Traditional Irish Cookery" Darina Allen has a picture of it and calls it "cut-and-come-again kale". Trevor Sargent is a big fan of it and calls it "Everlasting Cabbage". So, does anyone know its latin name? And, while we're at it, is it a cabbage or a kale?

It's one of my favourite plants in the garden. So few veg are perennial; it's great to have this. If I'm peckish in the garden I graze it. Pigeons have never taken any interest in it, molluscs have little impact and this is the first season where the cabbage white butterfly laid her eggs.

Go to...www.botany.com/brassica.html you will get all the Info'....its such a complex plant Scientists have divided it into several botanical groups...

Very interesting. Could be a collard; though this seems to be an American term for a type of kale.

I should mention that when I got it I was given three cuttings. I shoved them in the ground a few days later with no preparation. Two took and one failed.

I since moved from that garden and took two plants and four cuttings with me. One plant took, one failed; all four cuttings took.
