For the first time this year, we have let clover grow in a couple of areas of our large garden....and by mowing around the two areas, they look really lovely......a carpet of flowers breaking up the endless green. The clover areas are now alive with the sound of honey bees and small bumble bees and the perfume is intoxicating. If you have clover in your grass, do try doing this.....it is good for the bees, beautiful to look at and reduces your mowing. time and fuel use. |

am doing the very same myself - trying to get a clover lawn going. greener, less thirsty, better for the bees, self-fertilising; where can you go wrong? |

I to have read a lot about clover lawns and I'm sowing clover into my own which is about an acre. All the time saved cutting grass will be spent with my kids... 😄 |

Well done, folks.....I'll have to take it a little slower, as my better half loves his ride-on mower and his neat grass......but hopefully the clover areas will increase year by year. Wait till you smell the perfume on a hot day....it's magical. I'm new to the whole concept, so I don't even know how long the flowering season for clover is...all a bit of a learning curve for me. |

Hi
Does anyone know why the spammer thing came up when I posted please?
I didn't know what a spammer was, I had to ask my grandson!!
Well I'm not a spammer
Do you think it has anything to do with using photo bucket to post my photo of my clover lawn? It's the first time I have used photo bucket.
I don't want to cause offence to anyone
Mayo

Apologies for that folk, it was what remains of the old over-exuberant word censor software.
When the site was initially set up we had visit from various dodgy individuals selling all kinds of prohibited products, counterfeit watches, fake diplomas etc.
Our user vetting procedure has become much better since as evidenced by the lack of spam posts on the forums.
One of the most common earlier spam post related to porn websites which the old censor thought you were talking about Mayo when you ended your post with XXX, the kiss symbol not the universal symbol for x rated.
Sorted now..... apologies for any offence caused
Just to clarify for anyone that needs to know ......spam postings are used to advertise products, businesses, websites, and often to broadcast political or social commentary through the abuse of electronic messaging systems. _________________ Gardening books.
