Is it true a crab apple tree will pollinate any other apple tree

yes it will pollinate other apple trees but won't pollinate every type of apple tree depends on what flowering/pollination group the crab apple is in and then what the other tree is, basically a very early flowering crab apple and a very late flowering eating apple, they could miss each other and not pollinate

john1412 is true.Crab Apple tree's will only pollinate apple tree's in the same pollination group.For example:Your crab apple is Group A,it will only pollinate apple trees in Group A.What I'm saying is that a group a apple tree won't pollinate a group b apple tree.

I think you might be wrong there, if an apple tree is a pollination group 1, it will be pollinated by both, 1 and 2, the way it is applied is one group down and one group up will potentate, so group 3 will be pollinated by group 2, 3 and 4.

Yes, crab apples produce large amounts of blossom over a long period which makes them great pollination partners.
