What is your opinion/advice on getting rid of the brambles after you have removed them.. .. burn them or turn them to mulch??
Would a chipper take brambles?
Thanks in advance! |

I'd burn them, and put the ashes in the compost. As a mulch, if they're green, they could still take root. If they're old a dried out, and you want to stop a cat defecating, maybe... A shredder will grind them up, but every time you touch the result you'll get a little bit of bramble thorn in your hand as a reminder. |

You might try using dried brambles as a slug barrier. |

Thanks for the advice. We will probably just burn them, would there be any point in putting them straight in the compost? Would they have any benefit that way?
Good tip for the slug barrier and cat repellant by the way too |

Wood ashes contain useful mineral salts such as potassium , sodium, calcium. They are soluble so will leach away with rain but you could mix the ashes into your compost, keeping it covered until you use it. I have heard they are good for raspberries but keep the ash away from the stems. |
