Hi

I don't know why but I felt an irripressable urge to join Facebook!!

Maybe it is kiddy pressue or advertising, I don't know. I doubt anyone will go on to the new page I started as the site appears to cater for a different social circle.

Most of the gardening and environmental sites are nothing to do with the topics they mention.

Am I being naive?

Has anyone else joined Facebook to get into the horticultural and environmental discussions? Is it any good, does it work?

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=7464726323

Maybe I should just stick with the Irish Gardens Forum!!!

Cheers

I think most people join facebook, myspace etc to grab their 5 minutes of fame on the internet. I suppose it is great for people that dont have a website of their own. inishindie you on the other hand have your own "space" in your blog. And not forgetting your interesting posts on here.

Thanks Birdie.... A compliment... I can't cope!!
I think you are right about the five minutes.

I don't think I would have the time to keep up the chatting on Facebook Still, I enjoyed the ride.

I am already neglecting the housework and children with my computer use as it is!!

I'd better pick them up from school.

Cheers

Ian

Good man Very Happy

I have a Bebo page set up for the shop here, if you search under our name you'll find it.

I have my own page, but its harder to find as its a 'private' page Embarassed , so its not on public view.

Search for the shop one and let me know how you get on. I set up a page on facebook a while ago but done nothign with it. Lots of garden centres have pages on facebook in England, it must be a more popular thing there.

Cheers
Gareth

Have I missed something, what is Facebook and Bebo, is it a new language, or where have I been. Confused

Here is how Facebook describe themselves:

Facebook is a social utility that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them. People use Facebook to keep up with friends, upload an unlimited number of photos, share links and videos, and learn more about the people they meet.

They both have there fair share of inane waffle! They are a bit like a forum (not this one of course!) I suppose with millions of topics.

It can also be linked to your mobile should you get lonely for a second.

Check out the sites to get a better idea.

I don't think I will keep it up (I joined yesterday and still have no Mates!)

Anyway I wouldn't have the time to spend chatting to strangers on a forum site about things that I knew very little about!!!!....or would I?

Cheers

Ian

I dare not look at Facebook, as I don't need another addiction.
But if it could be used to introduce/promote Irishgardeners.com to more prospective gardeners, then I might have a look at it. Rolling Eyes

Someone has suggested that we ought to start up a page for older gardeners and call it FACELIFT!

It sounds like a good idea to me!!
