Hi Guys,
First post here, I have been reading for a while and it looks good.
I think my Mum's hedge is Lonicera nitida (poor mans box) as I looked at your Hedge section and think it is this. It was hit bad with the big frost a few years ago and I thought it would come back but while some did the rest is pretty bad looking now showing it bare branches. It is part of a long hedge in an award wining county Offaly village and the hedge runs the length of the street in front of the cotages so I have to stay with this hedge really.
I am looking for an Irish supplier for these if you know of anyone.
Thanks

I have dealt with this nursery......the owner is very straightforward to deal with, maybe you could ring him and see if he can supply you. He delivers hedging plants all around the country:

Im guessing clonbullogue, think I know the hedge,If im right call to tir Na Blath on the rathangan road or flannerys nursery Staplestown. Are you sure its dead If you scrape some of the bark and its green cut it down to the ground and it will regrow Lonicera nitida is very hard to kill if you even dump the cuttings it will grow where you dumped them.
I think Killeigh will put it up to yea this year ive been watching them for the past number of years and they are geting their act together.

Hi Greengage,
Your spot on with Clonbullogue, we have won the Offaly title since 1978 I think along with a few best village titles. Killeigh is a lovely spot with some beautiful features along with the current no 1 Geashill.
Yeah, it is dead in places, I done your test and left it in just in case the root would have some life but no.
Thanks for the reply, I will try them.
