Hi from the North West of England

Hi all,
I've just found this forum and it looks really great. I've lived in the NW of England for the past 12 years (grew up in N Ireland) and have a garden on a hill with lots of levels. I've had this garden for the past 6 years and it's still a work in progress as the previous owners had covered everything in black plastic and bark chippings so that nothing would grow. No shrubs, no perrenials, nothing really so a bit of a blank canvas that I'm slowing filling up. I'm looking forward to getting some new ideas here. I don't get a lot of gardening time - full time work and kids all get in the way - so I like the 'maximum results for minimus effort' approach to gardening'. Happy gardening.

Welcome Expat. I would guess you get hard winters which would affect your plants in the NW of England.
