|
|
Hello
I laid seed late Sept/early oct and was lucky enough that we had a mild few weeks and the lawn greww well enough.
Of course in December we had a few frosty nights, some hard frosts. Shortly thereafter parts of the lawn have yellowed significantly, but not all parts.
Small suburban garden, well enough sheltered, but area under trouble would have been most exposed during night.
Is this the end for this part of the lawn, or will it recover in the spring?
Many thanks

depends on how bad it is grass grows from meristimatiic tissue low down thats why it can be regularly cut and it regrows so dont give uo its very hard to kill plants. If all of us passed away as predicted grass and plants would thrive fine its us interfering that causes problems.

Thanks Greengage
I would say that about half the blade is yellow at this point. There is no drooping at this stage so am hopeful. As you said, gras is fairly resilient, so am keeping my fingers crossed. Whatever happens will try and let nature take it's course.

greengage you probably mean meristematic rather than meristimatic, very good explanation.

Well spring growth is in, but the portion of grass has not really taken off, looks damaged, not sure of I should give a chance or just dig up and re seed. Enclose pic, you can see the part that has done well and the that that hasn't.
Had it fenced off over winter from dog, who has been in there a few time chewing sticks, so looks worse than I would like, but trust me they were not there up until a week or two ago.
All comments welcome.
