Similar plants to Wild Rose

I planted a mixed native hedge 2 years ago along 2 boundarys consisting of hawthorn, native privet, guelder rose, field privet and wild rose. The hedging along one side is thriving and in a few years will give me a lovely varied boundary, Along one side only the wild rose is thriving. The quality of the soil in this section is not as good as the when building the house some of the top soil had been scraped away. The soil is a broken shale about 6" down (or less in some places), but the wild rose is thriving whilst other plants are struggling a bit. I am looking to plant a 3rd row of hedging along this boundary to help it thicken up quicker. I don't want to plant more wild rose as I'd like to keep a good variety in the hedging - any reommendations on hedging that would thrive in similar locations to wild rose?

The Native Guelder rose is a nice option.,

It is a though plant and is happy in poor soil and shade.
Not sure about how well it will like the shallow soil though

If your Irish you could google hedgerow surveys from your area ie county there are a number completed and they are free available from you local county council heritage officer, why am I telling you this , well if you are looking to see what does well in your area you will find it in the report,
Euonymus europaeus is something you should consuder as it would do well in poor soil
